Getting current

So after our whirlwind trip through North Africa, it was nice to finally make our way home respectively.

I got back early in the morning on the first flight into rainy Paros with 5 other people on the flight. My dad, John, had arrived the day before and was there to pick my tired body up at the airport.

Jen got back later that night and was greeted by an ecstatic puppy.

We got back to the house and threw my bags down before taking an hour to get settled and then go pick up Louloudi. Upon seeing her, she immediately lost all control and bounced like a furry maniac from side to side and I thought she might have wagged her own tail off. We chatted with our lovely dogsitter Sigrid who told us of how much fun they had on their trip and seemed a little sad to be saying goodbye "so soon."

Two weeks with Dad seemed to flow by with ease. There were hikes around the island, some new restaurants to try and plenty of laughs around. Occasionally, when the sun peaked out for a few hours, we would get a swim in, but largely the wind kept us all inside and we were homebody's when not at a restaurant.

Louloudi took to Dad quite easily and would try to jump into his lap on occasion. Almost like a fourth grandchild you could say.

We played some games, particularly rounds of chess and backgammon. While I am loathe to mention it, Dad did best me in the backgammon this year with an unusual three in a row victory and then winning when we played with the doubling cube. I got my revenge in Chess. We are both equally competitive and quite good at the games we play as well, so the games were great fun. We are truly similar, even work the same way, as this is Dad's "European Office" as he likes to call it.

 Ouch.

Gunnar came to Paros for a week as well. He came by for a few dinners and it was fun to see the Crayfish Committee President on his third trip to Paros.

You don't get a photo unless the dog is there too. :)

Dad just left on the boat last night and now we don't have any more guests lined up, which sounds odd. At least we have our good buddy Glynn who is also spending the winter here and comes by frequently to hang out. It is far too cold to swim now and the winds get up to 60 mph now. Pretty much everything is closed, save for a few locations that stay open a little longer, before everything really closes in December. It's definitely no longer summer, but it will be nice to spend some quiet time and get some work done. This summer was such an excellent one that it will certainly be missed and we thank all the friends and family that have helped us enjoy our time here.
