This mama was turning 35 and wanted to celebrate with a few close friends and lots of snuggles. The ladies went out for a bit of a spa day at the local urban baths, taking in some sauna, hot tubs and the cold plunge with two great friends, Jane & Cait. The "boys", Nils, Eric and I watched the babies back at home and had some burgers, brews and bocce while baby entertaining.
Stella & Autnie Jane
We had plans for a dinner at an amazing nearby restaurant, but ran into trouble when the babysitter, unfortunately, was a no call, no show, but we made the most of it by ordering in, making some cocktails and watching a movie.
The next morning, we had friends over for a bagel and lox spread that took us all back to the NYC days with mimosas, all of Jen's favorite things. We had a special video from friends around the world who helped Jen feel the love.
Astrid wanted to wear a papusa like the rest of us, so we fashioned one with a scarf and a doll.
Later that day, we celebrated again with sisters and cousins. They made a fantastic dinner and homemade cake for the occasion. Astrid went wild chasing her cousins and we all crashed hard that night. Lots of love to our lovely Jen!
The holidays snuck up on us this year. We were thinking of holiday trips and getaways, but before we knew it, it was the 24th and we decided to keep a couple of babies home and relax for once. We still packed plenty into the time off and got the girls involved in the Christmas spirit as much as we could.
There was tree decorating, hanging stars and stockings, baking goodies, plenty of ham and so much more to be thankful for. With the work routine at a half pace and Astrid home from daycare for two whole weeks, we packed in a lot of family videochats with grandparents around the world, trips with the Aunties, a visit from Baba, and plenty of days where you could just wear your pajamas all day.
Christmas Eve was spent with our dear Aunt Mimi, who brought her adorable cat Feta to play and spend the night. Astrid of course really, really, really, LOVES cats for some reason (sorry Loulou) and could not get enough of chasing Feta around the house (sorry Feta). A big thanks to all the wonderful family and friends who sent the girls toys, books and clothes, it all was played with for weeks to come. The rocking giraffe from Mimi and Beauty and the Beast dress and book from Grandma and Grandpa Klimas were especially big hits.
We even managed to snap a few decent family photos with everyone looking sharp.
